Is Your Team Working ?

By Ken Goodfellow on August 17th, 2009

Teams,

The Real Estate industry like every other business is changing ,in a fast and furious way.

I think the formation of teams and the development of teams is happening at a very fast pace.

I do not think any company in the real estate industry has worked with more high powered teams than CKG International. We work with teams of just about every size from one assistant to twenty five members. The interesting thing about teams is it allows you to use leverage, in a number of different ways.
•    Allows you to add people
•    Allows you to handle more deals.
•    Allows you to make more profits.
•    It allows you to handle more listings.
So as you can see leverage is critical.

The main thing I see about teams, is the inability of the leaders in most cases to run the team so it is actually helping you earn more income and have a better life. What I usually see happening is the team becomes more of a burden than and asset. You have to pull everyone along, instead of them pushing you.

Important questions you need to ask yourself as a team leader.

•    Why am I building a team?
•    Do I have a written plan for the team and does each team member have a plan?
•    Do the current people on my team know the direction I am trying to go?
•    Do I over commutate with the team?
•    Have you tested all team members (DiSC).
•    Are the team members in the right positions?
The above are just a few questions you need to answer.

Building a team can be absolutely rewarding or it can wear you out. We have helped many of our clients make that change to a rewarding change.

So the question is how would you rate your team on a scale from 1 to 10?

Have a Great Week!

Fantastic It Is Over!

By Ken Goodfellow on August 7th, 2009

I love the positive news in the market place at this particular time. I love when I do my coaching calls and my clients are feeling some sort of relief and seeing there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I love that people are doing a lot of transactions. The reality of all this is media controlled; as always, everyone’s life.
The reality is that top agents have always continued in the changing markets to do well and they never really missed a beat. Now of course, I would not be telling the truth if I were to say a market went down 40 to 50% that it would not impact sales; however, at the same time there were still sales going on. Yes; there is question it has been challenging and everyone is working extremely hard.
The issue though never changes, if you follow the basic principles of business you will always have a strong foundation to work from. Principals such as:
1) Have a written Business Plan.
2) Have a schedule and follow it.
3) Control your expenses.
4) Fill your mind full of positive thoughts daily,
5) Learn what to say and when to say it to people.
6) Get in action everyday to sell something!

These are just a few of the basics; so many times we forget to follow these.
So….. As the media says, the real estate market is back to moving forward and I actually agree with their statement. Are all of the tough times over? Is everyone going to go back to making a lot of money?
The truth is, it has nothing to do with the markets, and it has everything to do with your attitude, approach and expectations of the business.

Have A Great Week!
